FAQ

Common questions

Which calculator tells me how many lots to trade on gold?

The position size calculator answers that. You enter your account balance, the risk you accept and your stop distance in pips, and it returns a lot size for XAU/USD, where one lot is 100 oz and one pip is 0.01. It keeps risk fixed in money terms instead of picking a lot size by feel.

How do I convert a gold move into shillings before I trade?

Use the pip value calculator first, then the profit calculator. Pip value gives the money value of one 0.01 move at your lot size; the profit calculator turns an entry, exit and lot size into a result. Because XAU/USD is quoted in US dollars, convert the dollar figure to KSh at the rate your bank or M-Pesa route gives you.

What does the margin calculator show that the position size tool does not?

The margin calculator shows the deposit locked by a position at the leverage cap, while the position size tool shows how many lots fit your risk budget. They answer different questions and can disagree. For reference, at the cap applying to the entity serving Kenya, a 0.10-lot gold position needs about $85.50 margin.

Why would I use the pivot point calculator on a gold chart?

The pivot point calculator derives support and resistance levels from the previous session's high, low and close, so you get reference lines without drawing them by hand. Traders use them to place stops and targets around levels rather than round numbers. They are a map of where price reacted before, not a prediction.

Can these calculators tell me whether a gold trade will win?

No. They only do arithmetic: lot size, pip value, margin, profit and pivot levels. They cannot forecast price, and no tool here produces signals or advice. What they do is make the cost and risk of a trade visible before you place it, which is the part you can actually control at your broker.
